PLEASE READ INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE TAKING TEST
The purpose of this test:
It is to ensure you know how to treat and transport your patient based on what your Medical Director authorizes you to do and perform your duties within state rule.
1. To ensure you know where to find information within your protocols.
2. If you have never taken the SPEMS protocol test before, it can be overwhelming. Please contact Mona at the SPEMS office 806-791-2582
for some pointers on taking the exam.
Test taking information:
1. Make certain you are taking the 2025 tests and not the 2024 test.
2. Make certain you are taking the appropriate certification level exam.
3. This is an open book test.
4. You get one (1) attempt to take the on-line test.
5. This test is not timed; you can come back to complete it at a later date.
If you cannot get back on, contact the SPEMS office so your test can be reopened for you.  DO NOT start a new test without talking with the SPEMS office first.
6. You must make a minimum passing score of 90%.
7. Scores of 80%-88% must contact the SPEMS office to remediate. Upon successful remediation, the test link will be reopened for you to correct your errors. You will not have to take the test again.
8. Scores below 80% will require a retest in the SPEMS office. You will have to make a 4-hour appointment to come into the SPEMS office to take a written test where you will also have to document the page you find each question on.
9. You may need to clear cookies and history in order to log on if you are taking the test on a shared computer within 24 hours of someone else. There is nothing that can be done in the test taking program to change this issue.
10.  DO NOT try to take the test to “see if you can pass without looking anything up”. This is a randomized test, so you will not get the same test if you try to take it multiple times.
11.  DO NOT take it again if you passed but want to get a higher score!
12. You must ensure that your information is correct. If the SPEMS office is not able to contact you, your test will be invalid.
13.  DO NOT log in under a fake name, email, & phone number. It is inappropriate; puts the character of the individual into question; and subsequently, the trustworthiness of the caregiver and report writer.
14.  DO NOT try to circumvent the system by changing the variation of your name or using a different email. Even if you do and make a passing score, it will not count. You will still be considered failing and will have to come to the office to take the written exam.
15. There is an expense involved for each protocol & JP test taken. Abuse of the system may cause the individual to be held accountable for the cost of the wasted tests.
16.  All Protocol tests must be completed by midnight March 31, 2025. These protocols go into effect at that time.
17.  As a reminder, if you have not completed the protocol test prior to the deadline, and you work on the truck, you are not covered by medical direction.
